'Hancock' not that super

Smith's still hot, but his new movie is not.will-smith-as-hancock.jpeg
I'm a sucker for cheesecake, kittens, guitarists and Will Smith. After his success with previous July 4 weekend releases like "Independence Day," "Men in Black" and "Men in Black II," I was amped for some more bigscreen Willie style. But as I walked out of the movie theater Wednesday night, I felt I like had been conned by my celebrity crush.

"Hancock" wasn't awful. It had great potential at times, but, as my friend said after the flick, "It seemed like they made it just for the sake of making a movie."
He nailed it. It was like watching the best team in the league play the worst. "Hancock" didn't have to put forth much effort to win and it showed.
The visual effects were pretty terrible.
The acting wasn't awful, but the three stars could have really shined under the right conditions. Jason Bateman played the loveable cheerleader. Charlize Theron was a mediocre female lead. Smith did have moments of brilliance and some great one liners, but he's better than that. The lack of character development coupled with the confusing plot left me wanting to see the film before it was edited.
If I had to sum the whole thing up in one word it would be choppy.
But don't sweat it Smith lovers. You can still get jiggy wit the fact that he looked smokin' in his hero costume.
