Pixar's 'WALL-E' doesn't disappoint

I'm a sucker for Pixar movies.
The animation amazes me and the characters - whether they're a car, a rat or a robot - are always so well developed that by the end of the movie, I'm always left wanting more.

"WALL-E" is no exception. I went in with high expectations and wasn't let down.

The premise is this: Humans have messed up the Earth so much that they abandon it for a cruise ship-like spaceship called the Axiom complete with a pool, virtual golf and robots to wait on their every need. A team of robots (Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) are sent to Earth to clean up the mounds of trash, but after 700 years and not much progress, only one is left. He likes songs from "Hello, Dolly!" and is fascinated by the stuff we've left behind like lighters, a Rubik's cube, rubber duckies and an iPod. He falls in love with fellow robot, Eve.
I don't want to ruin the movie, so I'll end there. There's not much dialogue, but the movie doesn't need it. The if-you-continue-like-you-are-the-Earth-will-be-destroyed message comes across in the animation, but isn't overly preachy. If you're looking for something to do this weekend between the barbecues and fireworks, go see this movie. And make sure you're there for the opening short movie, "Presto!" about a magician and his hungry bunny. Adorable.
