I can remember the first time I called DaNica's house after she was chosen as a finalist for "Showtime at the Apollo" when it came to The Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center in York in 2004.
She was a shy and timid freshman in high school with a powerful voice that gave you chills. I've interviewed a lot of local musicians aspiring to make it big. You root for them all, but chances are they aren't going to make it.
I remember getting a phone call from the Ellen Show asking about DaNica and how to get a hold of her.
I followed DaNica to the Apollo Theater in Harlem where she won Amateur Night. Look how young she looks.
I hung out at her house chatting about her history. I can't believe that was four years ago. Where has time gone? I am so happy to see her making moves to further her singing career. I can still hear her rendition of Whitney Houston's "I Believe in You and Me." It gives me chills every time.
