I don't typically frequent the Yahoo Music blogs, but a columnist there has created a listing of the "true top 20 albums" based on "science." Take a looksee.
He tried to base the list not on his personal taste but set certain parameters, which I'll list on the jump.

1. The list is based on the American market.
2. "Greatest Hits" albums and live albums were not eligible.
3. The following mathematical formula was used:
"Album Staying Power Value + Sales Value + Critical Rating Value + Grammy Award Value"
What do you think?
I was pleased to see some of my favs in there, including U2's "Joshua Tree," Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" and Michael Jackson's "Thriller." I can't knock No. 1 either -- Stevie Wonder's "Songs In The Key Of Life."
I'm surprised not to see any albums more recent than 1991, but I suppose that has to do with the formula's weight on "staying power." (The youngest on the list are -- Nirvana's "Nevermind" and Metallica's "Metallica.")
