Weekend roundup: Chapter 2

Take me out to the ball game...again

When we last left off, I was at the York Revolution game getting props from a mascot. There were fireworks...later on, after the Revolution beat the Camden Riversharks.

My first Sovereign Bank Stadium visit was positive. The box seats were cushioned. The beers weren't $8.50 each. There was room for improvement with the music selection. According to Wikipedia, 98 Degrees started their solo "careers" in 2002.

(Technically unemployed or probably planning a cheesy reunion tour?)

And move on I did -- a few blocks down the street to Ganfalloons. I did a victory lap around the dance floor to the fresh grooves of Harrisburg's Nate Myers and the Aces. They played the extended version of "Rappers Delight." I was the one who was delighted. I hipped hopped the hippie the hippie to the hip hip hop, and I didn't stop the rock it to the bang bang boogie say up jumped the boogie to the rhythm of the boogie, the beat.

After all the hipping, hopping, jumping and stuff, I was pretty beat, but I had another baseball game to attend. Sunday, me and a die-hard Yankees fan went to see the Yanks face the Orioles at Camden Yards, aka Birdland. (Necessary disclaimer: Just because I went to Yankee Stadium in July doesn't mean I rooted for the Yankees Sunday.)
It was the perfect way to spend a beautiful late summer afternoon, even though the O's ended up losing a close game that involved five homeruns.

After getting back to York, I refused to let the weekend end without making an appearance at a friend's barbecue. Clearly, at this point, I was running on fumes. Watermelon and pasta salad were able to revive me for a bit, but after getting home and watching "Mad Men," I crashed like the stock market in '29.

This weekend taught me two things:
1. Summer isn't complete without baseball, cold beer and barbecues.
2. It's a problem if you need a recap of the weekend roundup.

Check back next Monday to read about my Labor Day adventures.
