I don't write about chains in my biweekly column because there are just too many local gems to waste time writing about large cookie-cutter establishments.
But it's hard to ignore Sheetz as a cheap eat.
My dad, who lives in Lancaster, is a job foreman for a company working on remodeling Queensgate Shopping Center. Click here to read about some changes at the center.
We aren't eating at Sheetz, but here is me and my dad, Chuck.
Since we never get to meet for lunch, we arranged to meet today. I wanted to go to Sheetz. Since he was treating, he wanted to go some place less gas-station like. He suggested the South York Diner.
But if you read here or here, you will see why I picked Sheetz.
MTO has a million and one selections. If I were a mathematician, I would throw out some crazy figure about all the combinations you could order. It would be astronomical. But, of course, I am not.
Our total came to $8 and some odd cents, probably closer to $9. I ordered a turkey sub and a large latte (that was free because I have a punch card for frequent latte drinkers). We shared fries and he ordered an Italian sub and a large fountain soda.
The Sheetz on Queen Street has booths inside and tables outside, so even though we bought from a gas station, we didn't have to eat in his work van like he's probably used to doing.
It's a gas station with class!
