MTV kisses up to Spears
Paris Hilton announced that Britney Spears won Best Pop Video. MTV must be really trying to make up for what they did to her at last year's show.
What was up with the trivia, the to-the-minute updates on what was coming up on the show and the Pepsi promos?. It was a little a lot much, but still not enough to keep the crowd interested.
Kid Rock took the stage next and unfortunately performed his rip-off song "All Summer Long."
Kobe Bryant announced that Britney Spears won Video of the Year. (More sucking up by MTV.)
Kanye West brought it on home and showed up his vocal abilities (who knew?) with a love song. He killed it as usual.
Overall, the show was weak sauce. It was packed to the gills with performances and appearances for performances and appearances sake. I think one of the best parts was seeing the Jonas Brothers give Russell Brand the stink eye.
