Kathleen Edwards and John Doe rock an (almost) full house.

Friday night, I wanted to take it easy and keep it classy at the same time. I feel like I accomplished this by wearing my glasses and sipping on some box wine (the Franz) with a friend while we listened to the WXPN live broadcast of The Decemberists concert from the Electric Factory in Philadelphia.

Using my radio for entertainment made me feel like I was back in the 1940s. That feeling lasted until we decided to pop in the DVD of "Gone Baby Gone." The movie (minus Michelle Monaghan) was amazing. I'm still turning the moral dilemma at the end over in my head. Kudos, Affleck brothers. You Bostonians know how to keep it real.

Loves it

Saturday, I watched the Penn State game. I'm still not ready to talk about the outcome. Luckily, I didn't have to sit around and sulk. I went out to cover the Kathleen Edwards and John Doe concert at the Capitol Theatre in York. The show was close to selling out, something none of the other CapLive concerts were. There was definitely excitement in the air before the show.

Edwards and Doe took the stage at 8 p.m. and played "Asking for Flowers." Edwards switched to violin for the second song and then sang a duet from Doe's last album. Between songs, the two musicians traded jokes as they tuned up. I had to leave after the third song to make my deadline, but downloaded most of Edwards' "Asking for Flowers" album when I got home.

The young Americans

Sunday, I woke up, saw the sunshine and decided to take a run. The foliage is gorgeous right now and I love the sound of leaves crunching under my sneakers. Later, I caught "American Teen" at the Capitol Theatre with a chum. (I didn't have to leave early this time.) The documentary about five Indiana high school students was funny, sad and a little disturbing. I absolutely loved that MGMT's "Kids" played during the credits and had my own little dance party.

After the movie, we headed to watch football and grab a bite to eat at Cobblestones. Ending the weekend with some NFL action and sweet potato fries seemed like the right thing to do. And it was.
