Weekend roundup

When I woke up on Friday to a suprise snow storm, I knew my weekend was off to a great start. Trying to navigate the squalls to do Christmas shopping was less than enjoyable. I managed to make it to the 1:50 p.m. Friday showing of "Twilight" in one piece.

After burning though the book last weekend, I was looking forward to seeing how the novel would translate to the big screen. I was secretly happy that most of the teen/tween crowd was still in school when I went to see the movie. Thank goodness there were no ear-piercing screams when Rob Pattison, aka Edward Cullen, walked in the picture.

I'm not a "Twilight" disciple, but I enjoyed the movie. There's nothing like an angst-filled teen vampire drama to lighten one's day.

After the movie, I stopped by Sparky & Clark's for a hot beverage and acoustic music. A large decaf warmed me inside and out and the tunes soothed my nerves, which were frazzled from from driving on black ice. I especially liked a rendition of Coldplay's "Lost!"

Saturday, my friend from home and I decided it was best for her to stay home rather than brave the turnpike, so I had more time on my hands than expected. I'm not used to such things and reacted accordingly. I finished my Christmas shopping and impulsively decided to get my hair chopped.

In the afternoon, I settled in to watch Penn State clinch a trip to the Rose Bowl and then headed to the Harp & Fiddle for some food with my friend. It honestly felt like January instead of November outside. I was suprised to see the Harp so crowded when I walked in the door. I was even asked if I had reservations. Still, it didn't take time to find a table, a working candle and something warm to fill my stomach.

Sunday was brighter and sunnier and so was my mood. After sleeping in and getting an omlete at Perkins, I headed out for a frigid, but fulfilling run. I decided to get through a few more episodes of "The West Wing: Season Two" instead of watching the Eagles lose yet again. (I think I made the right choice.)

How much did you chop off? Are we talking super short here?

And yea...you definitely made the right decision about not watching the Eagles...pathetic.
