The color may be cliché, but it sure is classy as celebs took to the runway in red today. Big names included Katie Couric, Patricia Arquette, Hilary Duff, Lynda Carter, Jennie Garth and Tori Spelling. The ladies kicked off Fashion Week in New York City during the Heart Truth fashion show, which raised awareness about heart disease and paid tribute to Valentine's Day.
What else can you expect this week?
Tomorrow, top designers will pay tribute to Mattel's Barbie, who celebrates her 50th year in plastic. Barbie's life-size stand-ins will model outfits designed by Tommy Hilfiger, Marchesa, Diane von Furstenberg and Betsey Johnson, among others. Many of the Barbie-inspired styles will head straight to Bloomingdale's flagship store for display only. But it still reminds little girls (and big girls) of Barbie's glam. The Mattel show starts at 3 p.m.
Sunday night goes retro with the stylings of Miss Sixty at 8.
On Monday, a new approach to fashion, Organic by John Patrick, takes the runway at 11 a.m. All of his designs boast earth-friendly. Check out more of his work here. Also on Monday, Marc Jacobs at 8.
A new Giorgio Armani store plans to open Tuesday on Fifth Avenue at 6 p.m. The rest of the fashion world will go gangsta with Baby Phat at 8 p.m.
Wednesday's highlights include Marchesa (4 p.m.), Anna Sui (7 p.m.) and Proenza Schouler (9 p.m.).
Then comes Thursday with the big names: Vera Wang (9 a.m.), Tommy Hilfiger (10 a.m.), Isaac Mizrahi (2 p.m.) and Calvin Klein (4 p.m.)
Friday ends the week-long event with Project Runway (9 a.m.) and Ralph Lauren (10 a.m.).
