"My Old (music junkie) Ways"
When I saw that Dr. Dog was playing the Chameleon Club, I knew I had to holler at the Philadelphia group even though the show was on a Tuesday night. When I walked in and saw the stage setup with tree braches wrapped in twinkle lights, flowers and a plaid mural, I knew I was in for a good show. And, boy, was I right.

Another Philly act Drink Up Buttercup (fab name) opened. I was able to catch their gloriously out-of-control set. They wailed on their instruments, banged trashcans and produced operatic vocals during their techno/rock tunes. It looked and sounded like a funky circus, which only made the crowd want more. Unfortunately, Dr. Dog took a ridiculously long time to take the stage. That meant I got to hang out and get my feet trampled by tipsy college kids. I heard a few others in the crowd grumbling at how long soundcheck took, too. Considering the venue and day of the week, it was no time to pull a [Insert name of egotistical performer here. Thankfully, the set was worth the wait. Hearing "The Breeze" live was enough for me. I dig the band's three-part harmonies, diminished chords and saloon sound, but didn't know how it would translate live. But Dr. Dog was energetic and loud, mostly since they had to sing over a crowd who seemed to know all their lyrics. Since they went on so late, I had to do the lamest thing ever and bow out early. But I'd see them again at a time when I'm not in need of sleep.
