I almost hit the ceiling when I read this news.
According to Variety, Film Academy president Sid Ganis announced this morning that there will be 10 best picture nominees at the 82nd Oscar ceremony March 7, 2010 at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood. The Oscar noms will be released Feb. 2, 2010.
For realz? I like the current cutthroat style. Why does the Academy suddenly feel the need to kick it old school? Does that mean that some "not that great" movies will make the cut? Won't the Oscars ceremony be even longer? Will Nate Silver's predictions be more wrong next year? I need an explanation. I need...to breath. Where's my paper bag?
