The York-based styling house Primp Agency was hired to do makeup and hair for Bernice King — daughter of Martin Luther King, Jr. She spoke Sunday to the crowd at the MLK National Memorial dedication ceremony in Washington, D.C. The dedication of the memorial had been rescheduled from the 48th anniversary date of King’s “I Have A Dream” speech due to Hurricane Irene.
Sha’ Summerlin, who runs Primp wrote this in an email message:
(Primp) appointed … lead makeup artist, Kimya Crawford of Baltimore, to set up shop inside Elder King’s hotel room at 7 a.m. on the morning of the dedication. Elder King was then ready to meet with President Obama, First Lady Michelle Obama. She then took her turn to honor her father’s memory after her brother, Rev. Martin Luther King, III and before President Obama made a poignant speech.
