Concorde Vocal Ensemble to perform for American Choral Directors Association

The Concorde Vocal Ensemble, of the York County Senior Honors Choir, will take a three-day trip to Providence, R.I., later this month. The group will perform Feb. 16 during the American Choral Directors Association Eastern Division Conference. Concorde was selected as one of 20 choirs from the Northeast region to perform for 1,000 ACDA members.

Concorde will rehearse Saturday, Sunday and Feb. 12 to prepare for the performance, which is not open to the public. The ensemble of 45 comprises students from 15 York County high schools as well as home-schooled students. Randy Yoder directs and conducts the ensemble. Michal Buchanan is the assistant director and accompanist.

Last winter, Concorde was invited to perform during the Carnegie Hall Choral Workshop. The group traveled to New York City and performed Hector Berlioz’s “Grande Messe des Morts, Op. 5,” also known as “Requiem,” at Carnegie Hall. Read about that trip.
