YorkArts to honor Writer’s Eye competition winners tonight

YorkArts, 10 N. Beaver St., York, will honor winners of the Writer’s Eye Literacy Competition during First Friday festivities 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 3. This year, participants were invited to write a poem or short story in response to the “Biological Aesthetics” exhibition. The winners were chosen by York’s Poet Laureate Carla Christopher. Winners are as follows:

Fourth to sixth grade:
First place — Sadie Hericz, New Salem Elementary School

Seventh to ninth grade:
First place — Maddie Nesbitt, York Suburban Middle School, eighth grade
Second place — Joan Kohorst, West York Area High School, ninth grade
Third place — Abby Swoboda, Southeastern Middle School East, eighth grade

10th to 12th grade:
First place — Vicky Nalbone, West York Area High School, 11th grade
Second place — Olivia Purtell, West York Area High School, 10th grade
Third place — Bridget Nalbone, West York Area High School, 11th grade

College/Adult:
First place — Carmen Walsh, York
Second place — Le Hinton, Lancaster
