March is Theatre in Our Schools Month
DreamWrights Youth and Family Theatre will present touring productions and workshops to local students in honor of the month. It will celebrate Wear York Show Shirt Day Friday, March 9, and invites community members to wear a shirt from a theater production they’ve worked on or attended.
Middle and high students are invited to daytime performances of “The Importance of Being Earnest” at discounted group rates March 21 and 22 at DreamWrights, 100 Carlisle Ave., York. Also, the first 50 students who wear theater shirts to the theater’s March 23 or 24 performances will receive a free Theatre in Our Schools button. March is also Music in Our Schools Month
At 7 p.m. March 29, three groups will offer a joint concert “Music of the Silver Screen” in celebration of the month at at Dover Area High School, 46 W. Canal St., Dover. This concert will include Dover’s High School Symphonic Band, Dover’s select choir Renaissance and OrangeMite Studio’s Dover Community Orchestra. Selections from Harry Potter, “Star Wars,” “Pirates of the Caribbean” and more will be performed. Admission is $3 per person. Proceeds will support the three groups.
