The York Symphony Orchestra will kick off its two new music series this fall. A classical concert series will conducted by Robert Hart Baker, who is entering his 30th and final season as the music director. He will then transition into a new position, the music director laureate. Marvin Hamlisch, an Emmy, Oscar, Tony and Grammy-winning artist, will conduct a pops series as conductor in residence.
Patrons can subscribe to either the classical series, the pops series or both. In addition, ticket prices have been lowered including student tickets, which will be $18. All concerts – except the Christmas Choral Concert – will take place at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, 50 N. George St., York. Current subscribers have until July 31 to renew. Single ticket sales will go on sale Aug. 1. Subscriptions start at $108 for the classical series, $58 for the pops series or $166 for both. Tickets are available at the Strand box office, by phone at 717-846-1111 and online at www.strandcapitol.org.
