Well, the Golden Globes certainly snuck up on me this year. It seems early, right? But this is a big year. The Golden Globes turns 70. From a small Hollywood luncheon, the awards have grown to recognize achievements in 25 categories — 14 in motion pictures and 11 in television. Check out this year’s nominees. Take a look back at the history of the event.
This year’s awards will be ladies night. Amy Poehler and Tina Fey host the live broadcast from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Jodie Foster will receive the Cecil B. de Mille Award, which is given by the HFPA Board of Directors to a person who had made an incredible impact on the world of entertainment.
Red carpet coverage starts at 7 p.m. Sunday on NBC and the ceremony starts at 8 p.m. Follow along with FlipSide during the show. We’ll get the conversation going around 7:30 p.m. on our Facebook page. Share your thoughts on the fashion, winners, losers and general craziness of one of the biggest nights in Hollywood. (For planning purposes, we’ll be doing live chats during the Grammys Feb. 10 and Oscars Feb. 24. See you then!)
