York’s Capitol Cinema presents Oscar-nominated shorts

See Oscar-Nominated Short Films Feb. 3 at the Capitol Theatre, 50 N. George St., York. The animated shorts play at 1 p.m. The screening is 80 minutes. The live action shorts play at 3 p.m. The screening is 115 minutes. The programs will include introductions and exclusive interviews with last year’s winners. One live action short that’s getting a lot of buzz is “Buzkashi Boys.” Set in Kabul, Afghanistan, the plot involves the national sport of Buzkashi (think: violent polo) and two young boys who dream of being riders one day. Watch the reaction of one of the film’s stars — 14-year-old Fawad Mohammadi — when he learns the movie was nominated for an Academy Award. Watch the trailer:
