Glenn Hetrick, a York College grad and judge on the SyFy show “Faceoff,” will discuss his career as a special-effects artist 5 p.m. March 25 in the college’s DeMeester Recital Hall, 441 Country Club Road, Spring Garden Township. The event is free and open to the public.
According to a news release, Hetrick graduated with a Speech Communication major, worked as an actor and makeup artist on independent films and sculpted masks for Halloween companies. He worked on “Buffy,” “Angel,” “X-Files,” “Heroes” and “CSI: NY,” among other TV shows. His film credits include “The Prestige,” “Pitch Black: Chronicles of Riddick,” “Blade 2” and “Spider-Man 3,”for which he’s working in research and development.
He now owns the California-based special effects company Optic Nerve Studios and has been a judge for three seasons on “Faceoff.” The reality competition series challenges contestants to create characters using full-body paint, makeup, prosthetics, 3D design, casting and molding. The show is in its fourth season. Tune in 9 p.m. Tuesdays.
