Blondie still rocking

| | Comments (0)

blondie.jpgIf I could have one wish, I would wish to be a rock star -- specifically Debbie Harry. She's a punk/pop icon and she's still rocking out at 64. Move over Gwen Stefani -- I think have a new idol.

I've always been a fan of Blondie's music, so I was pretty excited to see them live for the first time at MusicFest in Bethlehem. The Donnas and Pat Benatar opened, and while my friend and I completely missed The Donnas, we managed to catch Pat Benatar's encore of "Heartbreaker."

'Bruno' is one scary ride

You know those amusement park rides your friends dare you to get on? The ones that where you can barely keep your eyes open because you're terrified you might die?

That's what watching "Bruno" is like. It's sheer horror, but you laugh anyway. Warning to the easily offended, weak-stomached and always-politically-correct persons: You will hate this movie.

Show us your crazy hairdos

Humidity, static electricity and styling-run-amuck can all lead to hair disasters. There's no shame. We've all been there.

Snap a picture of your kid's crazy hairdo and submit it in a drawing to win a family four-pack of tickets to Dutch Wonderland.

Upload a photo of your child, age 12 or younger, with his or her crazy hair to inyork.com/gallery. (Click on the "Crazy Hair Contest" album and follow the instructions at the top of the page.)

Send an e-mail with your name, your child's name and age, the municipality where you live and a daytime phone number to jvogelsong@ydr.com by July 19. (Photo: Jason Plotkin)

Rock your socks off to these bands

Yeah! YYYs' new album is sooo goodyyy.jpg

I'm very pleased. Two of my favorite bands -- The Decemberists and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs -- just released new albums. Both bands have rocked my socks off with their new material. Seriously, the cotton fibers exploded off my feet and combusted into fiery flames upon hearing YYY's "It's Blitz," and Decemberists' "Hazards of Love." I don't exaggerate.
