The Parsons posse was feeling the pressure on Wednesday's episode of "Project Runway."
Kenley was officially not talking to Leanne (lucky girl) and spent most of the episode brooding in a corner by herself. Jerelle confirmed that he's a few stitches short of a seam by talking to himself and Aunt Jemima.
Go Phish!
Jam band fans rejoice: Phish is getting back together. The group last played together in August 2004. For details and tickets, visit Phish's official Web site.
This weekend was like riding a roller coaster -- there were a lot of ups and downs and it left me with a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach.
Friday night, I ducked the Bike Night crowds and headed to the first CapLive show to see Hoots & Hellmouth. The band burst onto the stage with its foot stompin' blend of folk and blues. I kept using the word "hootenanny" to describe the experience since it contained "hoot." Did I ever mention how clever I can be after two $4 beers?
The band performed sans a drummer and relied on wooden boards and tambourines for percussion. The lead singer, Sean Hoots' powerful vocals rivaled those of any R&B diva. I was bummed to see that the crowd was a bit sparse. i was glad that those who did attend not only clapped, but got up and danced.
Music to my eyes
Pop some crazy pills and strap in for another wild "Project Runway" ride.
The Parsons posse had to design outfits for (pause for effect) each other. Oh. Snap.
And then they were each assigned a random musical genre to interpret with their looks. Holy. Crap.
Yes, the fabric definitely hit the fan Wednesday night. The runway looked like the United Nations -- MTV TRL (R.I.P.) style. All musical cliques were represented -- the probably insecure pop stars, the glam goths, the ghetto gangstas, the country bumpkins and the heroine-chic rockers.

President Bush will deliver a prime-time televised speech at 9:01 p.m. Wednesday to bully Congress into passing the $700 billion plan to bail out Wall Street. The speech will supposedly take less than than 15 minutes.
There has been speculation about the sexual orientation of "American Idol" runner-up Clay Aiken for years. Tuesday, he revealed he is gay via the cover of People magazine. The cover is a powerful declaration, and it's adorable to boot.
Bars are for beers, not for feet.
I know the roundup is running late this week. Monday totally snuck up on me, so back off. But seriously, last weekend was packed and writing a recap seemed a bit daunting. Here goes.
My freaky Friday began with a drink at the Westgate Lounge in West Manchester Township. It was strange to be at a bar outside the city. It was also kind of weird how much equipment the band Second Guess was trying to cram into such a small space. Talk about some serious sound check.
Joseph Arthur & The Lonely Astronauts was added to the CapLive music series.
The Brooklyn-based indie rock band will perform on Oct. 16 at the Capitol Theatre, 50 N. George St. in York. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $19.

When, I did sit down to watch, I found myself cringing at the awkward political comments made in acceptance speeches and the schmaltzy flashbacks to great shows from days of yore. ("MASH," "The West Wing," etc.)
Presenting the new "Project Runway" podcast! YDR staffers Cathy Hirko, Susan Haller, Angie Mason and Erin McCracken sit down and discuss Wednesday's episode.
The designers put together outfits from local consignment shops for the benefit show. Watch a video above and listen to a recap from YDR entertainment reporter Erin McCracken and YDR business reporter Jessica Milcetich below.
Want more fashion? Read the "R.Runway" recap Thursday and listen for our staff commentary on the show, which is coming soon.
It seems like Kanye West keeps it fresh to death when he's fresh out of the slammer. I'm loving his new single "Love Lockdown." Listen to it here. Click here if you want to see him perform the single on the MTV VMAs. (I'm still wondering why he was wearing a broken heart.)
Farewell cherished friend!
MTV's Total Request Live, aka TRL, is ending after 10 years. Teeny boobers feel free to bust out a box of Kleenex. *sniff, sniff*
Read about the rise and fall of the music-video-countdown-turned-pop-culture-phenomenon here.
After a week of writing upa storm about the York Fair Breaking Benjamin and ZZ Top concerts, I was looking forward to a chill weekend. (Excuse all the shameless plugs.)
With another dreary day on Friday, I got my wish. I grabbing some grilled cheese at Cobblestones, splashed around in some puddles and went to see the new Coen Brothers comedy "Burn After Reading."
It looks like West is already used to life behind bars.
Seems like the savior of hip-hop, aka Kanye West, was arrested at LAX Thursday morning. He got into a scuffle with the paparazzi. No word yet if his famous shades or super-sized ego were damaged in the altercation.
Gavin DeGraw's hoop dreams:
I continued the trend of starting the weekend out on Thursday night to help my friend celebrate her birthday. We hit up the Harp & Fiddle for dinner and drinks. Besides making a hand-crafted super hero cape and tap dancing, I tried to catch some of John McCain's speech. I got distracted from reading the captions by local jam band Mad Banter.
Paris Hilton announced that Britney Spears won Best Pop Video. MTV must be really trying to make up for what they did to her at last year's show.
What was up with the trivia, the to-the-minute updates on what was coming up on the show and the Pepsi promos?. It was a little a lot much, but still not enough to keep the crowd interested.
Then, Jordin Sparks called out all the "sluts" in the house and her and John Legend announced T.I. He shared the stage with Rihanna, who sported major A Flock of Seagulls hair. Girlfriend needs to rethink her stylist.
Russell Brand kind of bombed with the crowd, but that's probably because all the Hollywood airheads couldn't understand his British accent. I thought he was hilarious -- a foul-mouthed breath of fresh air.
Rockers Paramore brought the noise with an amped-up performance of "Misery Business."
Taylor Swift announced the Jonas Brothers performance. Does that mean that she's dating one of them? Girls screamed a lot as the brother band broke out into an impromptu rock show in the middle of Paramount's back lot.
Britney Spears kicked off the 25th year of the VMAs with a lame comedy sketch with Jonah Hill and a short announcement. (The folks at MTV trusted her to read a teleprompter, but not to perform.)
He's gonna buy you a drank. The 2008 MTV VMAs are about to kick off at Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles.
The red carpet featured some awkward moments.
MTV pulled out all the stops this year. VJ Sway was on limo watch in a helicopter. Apparently, it's go big or stay home.

What you need to know now

Check back Sunday when I live blog about the 2008 MTV VMAs. I'm expecting some fireworks. Check back Monday for the Weekend roundup.
Dress me, dahlings
Of all the shameless plugs in "Project Runway" history, Wednesday night's was by far the worst. Apparently, if you don't own an American Express card, you're worthless. Excuse me, but Visa is everywhere this girl wants to be.
Anyway, the designers wandered through New York's Meatpacking District, speculating about who they were going to meet. Blayne's creepy Mary-Kate Olsen surfaced for the first and hopefully last time. Instead of MKO, the giddy gang was introduced to none other than fashion icon Diane Von Furstenberg. (Yes, the same lady from those American Express commercials they run all the time on Bravo.)
Is Britney Spears going to get another shot at the MTV VMAs? She's already been used in the promos, but remember what happened last year? (Maybe you'd rather not.) Is this a good idea when she seems to finally be getting back to normal?
No double entry necessary this time, despite the long weekend.
I ate dinner at the new downtown restaurant MB & Company Thursday night. I put on my fancy pants and fliffed. (I used that phrase way too much when I started the roundups, so I retired it temporarily. But I missed it a little. Consider it back in action now.) It was a little strange to dine at a place where I didn't have to order at a counter, but I managed to keep it classy...at least for one night.
He's blinging like a rock star.
The eight-time golden boy Michael Phelps made a splash in Beijing's Water Cube.
He's still enjoying the spotlight and TV stations are sill hoping that an appearance from him will boost ratings.
Saturn Vue style
The 10 remaining designers took to the rooftops of New York City like a dysfunctional version of Santa's reindeer.
No, the roof was not on fire, it was full of shiny Saturn hybrid vehicles. Isn't it a coincidence that that the winning PR designer gets a Saturn and all the past designers star in those cheesy Saturn ads during commercial breaks? No. We are well aware that Bravo has perfected the art of the shameless plug.
The challenge, which actually seemed like a challenge, was for the designers to use car materials to create an ensemble.
York rapper and winner of the 2008 Central Pennsylvania Hip-Hop award for Best Male Artist Phene will headline the High Off Life 2008 concert Friday at Club NV, 615 E. Market St. in York. The rapper recently moved to Hotlanta for persue his rap career and is back in town to bring York hip-hop into the spotlight.
Andre Young Jr., son of Grammy Award-winning rapper Dr. Dre, was found dead in his Los Angeles apartment Saturday. The cause of death has not been determined. Young was 20 years old.
The new man in my life
I found out that there's a limit to the number of things a person can try to cram into one weekend. Strap on your crash helmet and try to keep up. You're in for a two-day roundup of epic proportions.
Are you feeling fierce?
It's tranny time! (I had actually been looking forward to "Project Runway" all week for the first time in a while.) Wednesday's episode was everything I could have hoped for plus glitter, feathers, sparkles and neon fabric.
The episode started with season 4 contestant Chris March entering in a blonde, big-chested Viking ensemble. Hotness.
Out strutted the drag queens, who took a few minutes to properly introduce themselves. With names like Anita Greenkard, Hedda Lettuce, Farrah Moans and Miss Understood, the ladies were ready to rock the runway.
The designers were told to be theatrical and over-the-top. Some seemed slightly horrified. Others looked ready to win the drag race.
The 11th Annual Manhattan Short Film Festival kicks off the fall film season at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 27 and 3 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Capitol Theatre, 50 N. George St. in York. Tickets are $8. Dave Matthews Band saxophonist LeRoi Moore died Tuesday of complications from injuries he suffered in a June 30 all-terrain vehicle accident. He was 46.

Stephen Kellogg & The Sixers coming to York Fresh York and the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center are partnering to present a new CapLive concert series. CapLive will feature live alternative-music performance at the Capitol Theatre, 50 N. George St. in York.
CapLive shows are all ages. A full service bar is located within the theater and attendees must be 21 to drink. Tickets will range from $10 to $20 and may be purchased online at www.caplivemusic.com, by phone at 846-1111 or at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center ticket center.
Political comedian Stephen Colbert made fun of York Haven native Monica Goodling on Wednesday night's episode of "The Colbert Report." "Blame Monica Goodling" was the title of The Word segment of the show.
Radiohead kicks it old-school with "Planet Telex."
Tuesday night, I headed to Camden's Susquehanna Bank Center with my friend and her sister to see Radiohead. (They're probably the one band I'd drive four hours roundtrip for.)
The show was five days shy of the five-year anniversary of my first Radiohead show back on Aug. 18, 2003.
My spot wasn't as good as the one I had at the MGMT show. (We had lawn seats.) But I still had a pretty good view of the stage.
It was a beautiful night. The stars and the Philadelphia skyline were shining, but they couldn't upstage the main attraction.
Check out Kanye West's new video for the single, "Champion." Wonder if it has any connection to the Olympic games?
Rusted Root drummer Jim Donovan will conduct two free public drum workshops Sept. 4 at Penn State Harrisburg. The Rhythmic Motivation programs begin at 12:30 and 4:30 p.m. at the campus community center. For details, call 948-6273.
Gold medal for fresh Olympic fashion
Thursday night, I kept it classy with martinis and jazz music provided by saxophonist Tim Warfield at White Rose Bar & Grill. I should have worn wing tips and a fedora.
Friday, I went back to the Jersey Shore. It wouldn't be August without a trip to Avalon. I arrived in time to catch some of the opening ceremonies of the 2008 summer Olympics, and event that made me feel anything but confident about my knowledge of world countries. Team USA looked dapper in Ralph Lauren-designed blazers and newsboy caps.
Grammy- and Academy Award-winning soul singer Isaac Hayes was found dead Sunday at his home in Memphis, Tenn. The cause of death has yet to be determined. He was 65 years old.
He is best known for composing the theme for the 1971 movie "Shaft" and, more recently, provided the voice for "South Park" character Chef. Hayes was conduced into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
This is another suprising loss after the sudden death of funnyman Bernie Mac Saturday.
Sports + Fashion = Yiddish
After watching the rerun of last week's episode, I saw that I only missed another cocktail dress challenge. If PR was still on at 10 p.m., I'd be asleep before the whack ish outfits had a chance to saunter down the runway. Help! The show is flat-lining. Someone needs to administer style CPR. Stat.
Thankfully, Wednesday night's episode went in a different, if totally obvious, direction -- to Team USA town. Speed-skater Apolo Ohno told the crew to create an opening ceremonies outfit.
There is something suspicious surrounding the latest Batman movie, "The Dark Knight." While it's breaking box office records and getting rave reviews, those involved with the film are dropping like flies. Could the movie be cursed? Let's examine the evidence before jumping to any irrational conclusions.
I stayed in York this weekend. (Don't act like you're not surprised.) That's mostly because I took a mid-week jaunt to Yankee Stadium in The Bronx. I saw the Yankees crush the Orioles, paid $17 for two Miller Lites and, to use the words of my brother, paid my respects to baseball history at the house that Ruth built. I withstood heat from the sun and from my friends, who were convinced I had crossed enemy lines. I decided to hide out and get some much needed downtime Friday night.
Your weekend rounduper hit the road this weekend. Friday night I headed to the Starlight Ballroom in Philadelphia to catch indie act MGMT with a fellow fan. The Brooklyn-based duo added a drummer, bassist and second guitarist for their live show, which was an electronic explosion of sound. As seen in the video above, the crowd went crazy during "Kids" as well as "Electric Feel" and "Time to Pretend." For me, it was time to pretend I wasn't claustrophobic.
Check out this YouTube clip of York-native Live rocker Ed Kowalczyk and Will.i.am rocking out at rally for Democratic presidential candidate Barak Obama in Philadelphia.
It's that time of the week. Click here, here or here for ideas on how to spend the weekend. Be sure to check back Monday for the Weekend Roundup. Ciao for now.
YLT hits a high note with 'Dreamgirls.'
I went to see York Little Theatre's production of "Dreamgirls" Thursday night.
The show wrapped up YLT's 75th season.
No name = bank
Despite or maybe because of the controversy over its name, Nas' now untitled album hit No. 1. It's the rapper's fourth album to go to the top of the charts.
Check back tomorrow for another "Project Runway" recap.

Goodbye golden girl
— Erin McCracken ( 2:47 PM)
Thank you for being a friend. Estelle Getty, who played Sophia on TV's "The Golden Girls," died Tuesday morning at the age of 84. Here's a look back at the show's theme song.
Christian Bale arrested
— Erin McCracken (10:59 AM)
Say it isn't so. Actor Christian Bale, aka Batman, might be in the doghouse. According to Reuters, a 34-year-old man attended a central London police station and was arrested in connection with an allegation of assault.
Bale, 34, is rumored to have assaulted his mother and sister. Isn't it a little strange that Bale's family came forward with these charges just days after "The Dark Knight" raked in millions? Now, I ain't saying they're gold diggers, but...I don't think anyone should jump to conclusions until the whole story comes out.
Another weekend. Another art festival.
After being blown away by "The Dark Knight" Friday night, me and a fellow art enthusiast headed to Baltimore's Artscape, America's largest free public arts festival.
Catchphrase of the moment:
Even though there were problems at the midnight opening of "The Dark Knight" at Regal 13 Cinemas in West Manchester Township, all was well on Friday night when I went to see the Batman blockbuster.
It nabbed $158.3 million this weekend -- obliterating "Spider-Man 3's" record.
Luckily, I ordered my tickets for the 9:50 p.m. show online a day in advance. When my friend and I arrived at the theater, there was already a long line for the 10:20 p.m. showing.
Vicious not girlicious
Nothing brings out my inner mean girl like Bravo's "Project Runway."
I find myself criticizing every outfit that comes down the runway a la Michael Kors, laughing when the designers fail and siding with characters who rock the 'tude like last season's Christian Siriano. And I enjoy every minute of it.
Wednesday's season five premiere was no different. I gathered with a few friends to dissect the newest crop of designers and judged like it was my job. Click here to read a fellow "P. Runway" fan's thoughts and read the rest of the entry for my own spin on the show.
"Mad Men" = Happy men with 16 Emmy noms
Primetime Emmy nominations came out Thursday.
The seven-part HBO miniseries "John Adams" led the race with 23 nominations.
AMC's "Mad Men" and FX's "Damages," snagged nods for outstanding drama -- the first for basic cable shows. "Mad Men's" grabbed 16 noms, the most among drama series.
"30 Rock," was the most-recognized series overall, with 17 nods. "Grey's Anatomy," "The Wire" and "Friday Night Lights" topped the snubbed category.
Read the rest of the post for a quick breakdown of the top comedy and drama categories.
The trailer for "High School Musical 3" hit the Internet. Looks like the Wildcats' senior year was filled with singing, dancing and major dramz. This is our generation's "Grease."
John Mellencamp announced the details of Farm Aid 2008. Willie Nelson, Mellencamp, Neil Young, and Dave Matthews will headline the Sept. 20 concert at the Comcast Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts.

My whirlwind weekend included finger wiggling.
This weekend was like stepping back in time to my undergrad days at Penn State. I headed up to the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, aka Arts Fest. I braved the humidity and crowds to look at crafts I couldn't afford and consume alcoholic beverages from my past.
That's right. People are giving vinyl another spin.
It isn't a holiday weekend, but there's still plenty to do. Click here, here or here for ideas. Wondering what the deal is with local concert tickets? Click here. Click here to find out why vinyl is so hot right now.
Dave and drugs don't mix.
Local police arrested 133 people at the June 27 Dave Matthews Band concert at Hersheypark Stadium. The arrests included 94 for underage drinking, 27 for simple possession of drugs, 19 for possession of drug paraphernalia, 12 for disorderly conduct and 12 for public drunkenness. Were you there? Did you see what went down? It just goes to show that trying to recreate Bonnaroo isn't a good idea.

Fresh Mint
— Erin McCracken ( 4:29 PM)
Real World Hollywood + The Mint = Sweet
Lancaster band The Mint's song "The People We Meet" will be featured on the season finale of MTV's "The Real World XX: Hollywood." The episode airs at 10 p.m. Wednesday. This will mark the second time this season that the band's music was used on "The Real World." Their song "Pen to Paper" was featured on the May 14 episode.
All-female groups Danity Kane and Jada will perform at 8 p.m. Sept. 12 on the York Fair's Toyota Grandstand. Danity Kane were the stars of MTV's "Making the Band." Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday at the York Fair Box Office, 334 Carlisle Ave. in West Manchester Township. Tickets can also be purchased by phone at 848-2033 and online at www.yorkfair.org. Cost is $25 for track, plaza and center grandstand seats and $20 for side track, plaza and grandstand seats.
Summer wouldn't be complete without my aunt's annual 4th of July party, which I headed to on Friday. The weather left something to be desired, but I made the best of it by playing washers, eating watermelon and drinking wine coolers. But the highlight by far was the bucket of dirt dessert.
