It's been a while since I've seen a kiddie movie in theaters. And no, Harry Potter doesn't count. But after an emotionally and physically draining Thanksgiving weekend visiting friends and family in D.C., I switched plans from seeing the existentially heavy "The Fountain" and instead decided to see the warm and cuddly "Happy Feet" instead.

Waitin' on a Train is still mourning the loss of Adam B. Sullivan, their standup bassist.
The band has decided to turn a planned show at Murph's Other Bar into a memorial concert for the 19-year-old. Horsecop, AD Chandler, American Bitch and Johnny Hank will join Train for the show. Proceeds will go to Big Brothers Big Sisters, since Adam had had a big brother since the age of 7. The show is this Friday (the 24th) and starts at 8 p.m.

As a kid, I grew up in a house of Macs (as in the computer). In high school, I saw that Windows-based PCs were obviously taking over as the majority OS of choice and so I made the switch. When I headed off to college at Penn State as a film major, I made the leap back to the world of Macs and have never looked back. That's the short version, at least.

Yesterday, I dropped by the Circuit City in Springettsbury Township because a co-worker let me know that people had already started lining up for the PlayStation 3. On Tuesday night. It doesn't come out till Friday. Wow.
Circuit City had already let them know that they were only getting 12 systems in for the launch date, but as of mid afternoon Wednesday, only nine had lined up, so all was kosher.
At least four of the nine folks admitted right away that they had no intentions of keeping the system - they simply plan to turn around and sell it on eBay, where the $600 systems are going for between $1,500-$2,500.
My first inclination is to think, wow, that's very shrewd of them, but if presented with the same opportunity, would I do the same? I mean, it's hard to say no to making about a month's salary by sitting around in a line for a couple of days.
Anyway, one said he was paying off some credit card bills and another said it was going toward school. It's not like they said "I'm hitting up the strip clubs" or anything, so I can't blame them.
Here's the story that was in today's paper.

Forget U.S. News and World Report or the Princeton Review... if you want to know what the best college to attend is these days, turn to CollegeHumor. The sophomoric humor Web site has release its own Power Rankings list of colleges and rates schools on the fine points that really matter - percentage of girls in relationships (a lower score is better), times bars close, number of male vocal groups (lower is better), visiting band's Billboard peak and more. Check it out at http://www.collegehumor.com/rankings.
For those who haven't heard, Adam Sullivan, bassist for local band Waitin' on a Train, died Saturday after falling from Chickies Rock in Lancaster County. He was 19. We here at FlipSide have talked with Waitin' on a Train before and express our condolences to all of Adam's and the band's friends and family.
Here's the story. Post your thoughts there, or, if you have a MySpace profile, you can share your thoughts and memories over at their page, http://www.myspace.com/waitinonatrain.
