Head to Charles for indie flicks

If you're a film lover, York County can be rough.

We're always sure to get the blockbusters, but those smaller, intimate and — in my opinion — flat-out better films don't make it onto a big screen here very often.*

Allow me to offer a solution:

The Ellen Pompeo look?

Is it me, or do these four entertainers have an eerily similar look? Not that they're identical, exactly, but more like they could be interchanged with one another without much notice? You know, like Queen Amidala's decoys? ("Star Wars Episodes I and II" anyone?)

Take "Flight of the Conchords"

Thanks to my continuing free trial of HBO, I took in a marathon of the comedy "Flight of the Conchords" Friday night.

The show follows low-key New Zealand-natives Jemaine and Bret in New York City as they pursue a record deal for their two-man acoustic duo, Flight of the Conchords.

The humor reminds me a lot of "30 Rock" or "The Office" - it can be very subtle at times, but there are usually a handful of moments each episode that leave you roaring.

It turns out, Jemaine and Bret aren't purely fictional characters: unlike their HBO counterparts, they actually have quite a following as a musical comedy act. This footage of one of their concerts last year features my very favorite of their songs: "Business Time."

JT's FutureSex/LoveShow on HBO

Alright, I have a confession to make to the world. I love Justin Timberlake's music. It's fun. It's catchy. It makes me sing along at the top of my lungs and dance in the driver's seat of my car, and I don't care who knows it.

Last night, I conveniently had nothing better to do than to watch his Future Sex/LoveShow on HBO, and let's just say it held my attention for a full 2 hours and 15 minutes.

If you missed it, no worries: HBO is airing it again at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. For details, click here.

A photo booth you won't forget

My co-worker Jackie (of Today's Mail blog fame)
just forwarded a link to this recent skit from "The Tonight Show" and it is truly hysterical. Check it out!

Run, don't walk, to 'Knocked Up'

Alright, so I don't have a lot of time right now, but I just had to get on here to tell everyone 18 and older to go see "Knocked Up" as soon as possible. My husband and I saw it last night, and it was simply hilarious. I haven't laughed that often throughout an entire movie in a very long time.

Is this Ferrell video funny?

http://sjl.funnyordie.com//v1/landing.php

I heard Will Ferrell released this video this week, and, being a huge Ferrell fan, immediately went to YouTube to find it. After a few views, I can't quite decide what I think of it. I definitely find the concept funny, but there is something disturbing about seeing it carried out. I don't know ... anyway, I'm interested to hear what other people think. I could go either way.

Zip up your pickup's pants

So I spent 20 minutes of my drive up 83 to work this morning watching a set of these swinging to and fro below the license plate of a black Ford pickup in front of me:

"The Office" meets "Heroes"

Here's a bit of entertainment for those of us who enjoy both "Heroes" and "The Office."
