The Hold Steady plays the Abbey Bar at ABC

This. Is. Happening. The Hold Steady -- the band that put out one of the best rock albums of 2008 ("Stay Positive") and that I saw play for thousands at the Virgin Mobile Free Fest -- is playing Appalachian Brewing Company's Abbey Bar in Harrisburg. Doors open at 7 p.m. April 16. It's 21-and-older only and tickets are $22 to $25. Considering that The Hold Steady has outgrown medium-size bars, this concert will probably sell out quick. Get your tickets now. (Photo: YDR File)

Watch local on 'America's Best Dance Crew'

York rapper Phene, aka Zach Richards, currently lives in Atlanta. He gave me a heads up about his buddy and fellow Central York High School grad Terrence Green. Geen is part of an Atlanta-based dance team called Swagger Crew, which landed on MTV's "Americas Best Dance Crew." The troupe will be one of five crews to represent the South during the season five premiere at 10 p.m. Thursday. In the meantime, check out some of Green's moves in the video above, and follow Swagger Crew on MySpace, Twitter and Facebook.

    The weekend roundup 01/25/10

hurt.jpeg Five weekend highlights. (Thank goodness for selective memory.)

Said goodbye to "Jersey Shore" Thursday night. One final fist-pump.

Dined at Iron Hill Brewery and saw The Youngers in Lancaster Friday.

Finally watched "The Hurt Locker." It was brutal and brilliant. Hopefully, it can take down "Avatar."

Finished season four of "The Wire." So why didn't this series win any awards?

Hid inside on Sunday and caught part of the PBS miniseries "Emma."

Last week, York County's Little Ivory Blues Band headed to Memphis, Tenn. to compete in the International Blues Challenge. The group didn't make the finals, but they had fun and networked with musicians, agents and managers. Read a diary of their trip.
