'America's Toughest Jobs'

I hoped that when the Olympics ended, so would my lazy days of laying on the couch for three hours straight in the evening. It's not my style to veg. americas-toughest-jobs-300x225.jpg

But after dinner and a few chores last night, I found myself back on the couch watching "America's Toughest Jobs."

What is wrong with me? What force is sucking me into silly prime time TV?

LaMotte's Restaurant and Bar

LaMotte's Restaurant and Bar in New Freedom is touted as having some of the best crab cakes in York County, but the rest of their menu is just as worthy of notice.lamottes.jpg

Friday night, Nate, my husband, and I went to LaMotte's for dinner. We were celebrating a few career achievements for both of us, so we were excited to have a memorable experience.

The menu at Lamotte's has so many interesting dishes, that it's really hard to choose. We started with the General Tso's Style Calamari ($7).

No more Blimpie...boo

I am sad to report that the Hess station on Route 83 removed the Blimpie and replaced it with Dunkin' Donuts.blimpie.jpg

I know, it's a sad day for sub, hoagie, grinder, hero (or what ever you call it) lovers. That was the only Blimpie in York County that I knew of. Sadly, I found out about this from my family, who lives very near a Hess Station in Southern Lancaster County.

Rissho Sushi

I was driving by the old Cafe Bennett building near York Hospital and saw that there is a sign for Rissho Sushi coming soon. Another sushi restaurant in York! AWESOME!

'Last Comic Standing' finale

lastcomic.jpgTonight is the finale of "Last Comic Standing."

I'm kind of confused as to why they let the final five comics perform last week and then forced America to choose a winner. We've barely seen full sets by these comics. But the top five (even the top eight) are really talented.

Six Flags of America

six-flags-america-baltimore.jpgMy favorite pastime is riding the roller coasters at America's Amusement parks.

Hershey, Dorney, Six Flags Great Adventure, Cedar Point...oh how I love them all.

A few years ago, I discovered Six Flags America in Bowie, Md. It's a little more than an hour from my house and a change from the norm. And CHEAP. It's $25 for a ticket if you purchase online. I think a season pass is $50. I had off yesterday, so I went.

Randy Pausch inspires

Last night, I watched "The Last Lecture: A Celebration of Life" on ABC's on "Primetime." Carnegie Mellon professor Randy Pausch died on Friday. The 48-year-old died of pancreatic cancer. He left a wife and three young children.

His story touched me to the point of tears and sobs.

His "Last Lecture" video has been seen by millions on YouTube. It's more than an hour long, but if you have time to watch, your life will be touched.

'Step Up 2: The Streets'

Although most movie lovers would say this movie is oozing with cheese, I am not afraid to admit that I loved every break-dancing, back-flipping, chest-popping moment. It just makes you want to get up and dance. And it's set in Baltimore. Take a look at the trailer.

'America's Got Talent' ZOOperstars

I am a sucker for "America's Got Talent." I could do without the terrible auditions and annoying judges, but the entertaining acts are really worth it. Check out this unsuspecting act.

Chai again Turkey Hill

I was probably raised on baby bottles filled with Turkey Hill iced tea....no joke. Growing up in Lancaster County you drink nothing else. Especially when your uncle works there.

Anyway, I drink diet now (not like that's any better for you) but sometimes Giant is out of it. So, I picked up Turkey Hill Diet Chai Spiced Tea in the Nature's Accents line. Sounded exotic and pure.
