Weekend roundup

M.I.A. makes better music than Miley.

No double entry necessary this time, despite the long weekend.
I ate dinner at the new downtown restaurant MB & Company Thursday night. I put on my fancy pants and fliffed. (I used that phrase way too much when I started the roundups, so I retired it temporarily. But I missed it a little. Consider it back in action now.) It was a little strange to dine at a place where I didn't have to order at a counter, but I managed to keep it classy...at least for one night.

Take me out to the ball game...again

When we last left off, I was at the York Revolution game getting props from a mascot. There were fireworks...later on, after the Revolution beat the Camden Riversharks.

The new man in my life

I found out that there's a limit to the number of things a person can try to cram into one weekend. Strap on your crash helmet and try to keep up. You're in for a two-day roundup of epic proportions.

Local rockers Head Case will play in Milwaukee at Harley-Davidson's 105th Anniversary Celebration Labor Day weekend. Watch this video of them rocking out at a recent band practice.

This weekend was one of the few times this summer when I didn't have "A Milli" things to do and places to be. It was kind of nice.

Radiohead rocks Camden

Radiohead kicks it old-school with "Planet Telex."

Tuesday night, I headed to Camden's Susquehanna Bank Center with my friend and her sister to see Radiohead. (They're probably the one band I'd drive four hours roundtrip for.)
The show was five days shy of the five-year anniversary of my first Radiohead show back on Aug. 18, 2003.
My spot wasn't as good as the one I had at the MGMT show. (We had lawn seats.) But I still had a pretty good view of the stage.
It was a beautiful night. The stars and the Philadelphia skyline were shining, but they couldn't upstage the main attraction.

Gold medal for fresh Olympic fashion

Thursday night, I kept it classy with martinis and jazz music provided by saxophonist Tim Warfield at White Rose Bar & Grill. I should have worn wing tips and a fedora.

Friday, I went back to the Jersey Shore. It wouldn't be August without a trip to Avalon. I arrived in time to catch some of the opening ceremonies of the 2008 summer Olympics, and event that made me feel anything but confident about my knowledge of world countries. Team USA looked dapper in Ralph Lauren-designed blazers and newsboy caps.

Six Flags of America

six-flags-america-baltimore.jpgMy favorite pastime is riding the roller coasters at America's Amusement parks.

Hershey, Dorney, Six Flags Great Adventure, Cedar Point...oh how I love them all.

A few years ago, I discovered Six Flags America in Bowie, Md. It's a little more than an hour from my house and a change from the norm. And CHEAP. It's $25 for a ticket if you purchase online. I think a season pass is $50. I had off yesterday, so I went.

'Killed' in Camden

Killers.jpeg

No, I didn't get shot in Camden, but it was pretty close. I saw The Killers at the Download Festival on Saturday. I had no idea The Killers had such a frat-boy fan base. They swarmed around the amphitheater and parking lot in their polo shirts and cargo shorts, spilling their plastic cups of beer on unsuspecting, sober concert-goers (for once, I left a concert beer-stain free). The day was filled with music, but my friends and I only went for Iggy Pop and The Stooges, and of course, The Killers.
