About this blog
There’s no denying that food allergies are a growing concern in the US. With about 3 million children affected -- 1 in 17 under age 3 -- it’s likely you know someone dealing with food issues.
My 2-year-old daughter, Ava, is part of that 3 million. But while her food allergies seem to bring never-ending challenges, I always remind myself that “having less may bring you more.”
Join me, a wannabe foodie, in my quest to make my daughter’s food experiences positive ones while trying to save time, money and my sanity.

Food allergies in kids on the rise
That’s not good news. The L.A. Times reported on a analysis by the journal Pediatrics, which look at four large national surveys since 1997. About 4% of children have allergies – and the puzzling part is no one really knows … Continue reading
No H1N1 vaccine for us
I wrote before about the dilemma regarding the H1N1 vaccine and egg allergy. After much back and forth, we’ve decided NOT to have Ava vaccinated. Really, I feel either option isn’t the greatest, but while I know Ava will have … Continue reading

H1N1 vaccination vs. egg allergy
So fortunately Ava has gotten over her weekend illness like a champ and has been in good spirits the past two days. But between seeing the pediatrician on Monday and a previously scheduled appointment with the allergist Wednesday, now I … Continue reading
