I feel fortunate that we don't have much day-to-day drama with Ava's food allergies. (that's her at left in July)
On the other hand, her environmental ones and her bouts with wheezing (I'm near convinced she has asthma) give us the biggest scares.
They don't affect her often, but when they do, it's a pretty big deal.
Back when she first started having the breathing episodes, we bought a nebulizer from our doctor. What a great investment for only $30. Being able to give her medicine immediately without running all over town helps relieve a lot of worry.
And it gets her feeling better quicker and staves off more serious stuff.
Last night was the latest episode.
Ava's allergies started acting up at my niece's birthday party Saturday, and after my husband took her home, she ended up throwing up and got a super stuffy nose and a horrible cough.
I didn't get home from work until about 2:30 a.m., and of course, she woke up and couldn't get comfortable.
We did a breathing treatment around 5:30 a.m., had some milk, and she finally settled down to sleep around 6:30 a.m.
Through all of that, she was still so sweet. I carried her downstairs to get the milk, and she patted my back the whole time, and said, "See? I pat your back!" Very cute. Made the whole sleep-deprivation thing a little more bearable.
She didn't really want to eat all day and she went down for a good three hour nap. Hubby just updated me that she sounds better, so we'll see how the night goes.
Hopefully there won't be any reason to see the pediatrician tomorrow.
