About this blog
There’s no denying that food allergies are a growing concern in the US. With about 3 million children affected -- 1 in 17 under age 3 -- it’s likely you know someone dealing with food issues.
My 2-year-old daughter, Ava, is part of that 3 million. But while her food allergies seem to bring never-ending challenges, I always remind myself that “having less may bring you more.”
Join me, a wannabe foodie, in my quest to make my daughter’s food experiences positive ones while trying to save time, money and my sanity.

Rice Krispies vs. the chickpea

How can you not like Rice Krispie treats?

Imagine the freedom in an allergen-free restaurant
I was making chocolate chip muffins for Ava the other day — wheat and dairy free of course — and my husband pipes up with this: “You know, if your current job doesn’t work out, you could always open an … Continue reading
Move over soy, I’ve got coconut now
I’ve talked about my use of soy before and how much tofu has pleasantly surprised me, but now I think I’ve found my true love food substitute. Coconut. I can not describe to you the celebration I did in the … Continue reading

Eating out is a task with food allergies
But those of you who deal with this already know that, right? USA Today recently ran a front-page story about the difficulties of not just eating in a restaurant with food allergies, but eating in someone’s home with food allergies. … Continue reading
