About this blog
There’s no denying that food allergies are a growing concern in the US. With about 3 million children affected -- 1 in 17 under age 3 -- it’s likely you know someone dealing with food issues.
My 2-year-old daughter, Ava, is part of that 3 million. But while her food allergies seem to bring never-ending challenges, I always remind myself that “having less may bring you more.”
Join me, a wannabe foodie, in my quest to make my daughter’s food experiences positive ones while trying to save time, money and my sanity.

After a week without milk and eggs, here are a few ramblings in no particular order: I can survive without cheese. I don’t like it, but I can do it. I re-affirmed my love for all things coconut. That vegan … Continue reading

Day 5 of Give It Up
This is pretty much the final day of going sans milk and eggs. I have a work-related banquet to attend Saturday night, and the menu was pre-ordered, so I’m stuck with what I have. But the whole past five days … Continue reading

Day 3 of Give It Up
I’ve never really been that person who stares in the fridge and thinks, “There’s nothing to eat.” I can always find something to whip together quick. Not so on this journey. If the fridge isn’t stocked with appropriate foods, then … Continue reading

Day 2 of Give It Up
I can’t fully explain how I felt today, but it was just kind of lighter. Maybe because I wasn’t eating a bunch of heavy stuff the day before. I don’t know. But it was nice. Here’s what Day 2 consisted … Continue reading

Day 1 of Give It Up
I went to the store last night after work, around 2 a.m. As I was walking from one end of the store to the other, I got a sense of what people who suffer from allergies go through. Everything that … Continue reading
