Industry bemoans shale tax proposals

| | Comments (0)

The industry group for Marcellus Shale gas extraction is calling the tax ideas proposed by Gov. Ed Rendell an impediment to the development of the industry in Pennsylvania.

The group, the Marcellus Shale Coalition, said other states put their initial taxes on extraction low enough to not impede the industry developing there.

Marcellus Shale gas extraction has already geared up in Pennsylvania, but there has been no initial tax during that time, and won't be until the one proposed by the governor is passed as part of this summer's state budget. If it's passed at all.
