Hyundai Getz Diesel greener/more efficient than a hybrid

In a UK “GreenFleet Award a small Hyundai Getz 1.5 CRTD (common rail diesel) has won the Transport for London Private Sector Award at the 2006 GreenFleet Awards.

Spencer Freedman from GreenFleet said: “This was a real world test, which highlights the environmental and cost benefits of choosing the right vehicle to get around London. The success of the Hyundai Getz demonstrates that clean diesel engines, if driven defensively, can be just as cost and fuel efficient as alternative fueled (bio-diesel, hybrid) vehicles.

This was a bang-for-your-buck test. A diesel engine is simpler to produce, lower cost to purchase than a hybrid and would probably have fewer repair expenses in high-mileage operation. Hyundai doesn't import diesels to the U.S. market.

Yorkblog + Hyundai = Matt Dunphy.

These things were everywhere in Australia. My wife, who kicked and screamed as I dragged her to Giambalvo to get an Accent, proclaimed that if we had the Getz in the States, she gladly would have taken that.

Because her Hyundai Accent hatchback is too big, you see.

Mind you, she's since changed her mind now that she's toting a cello back and forth to school.

I long for a mini-sub compact diesel and diesel fuel prices not laden with taxes and clean diesel that works with clean diesels available in other countries. The whole diesel marketing strategy here is dysfunctional: It has gravitated toward luxury brands and huge SUV's.... however, i think that will soon change.

People all over the world take the home loans from various creditors, just because this is comfortable and fast.
