A Large amount of carbon dioxide is linked to wasting fuel

To the Editor:
Not only is the Bush administration failing to provide leadership in reducing global warming pollution, but now the administration is putting up roadblocks for Pennsylvania and 10 other states trying to implement new standards to cut pollution from cars and light trucks.

Global warming will have profound impacts on Pennsylvania, including increased flooding, more heat-related deaths, and more unhealthy air days. Cars and SUVs are big global warming polluters. Fortunately, the Pennsylvania Clean Vehicles Program cleared its last hurdle in the state Legislature earlier this November, and would cut annual emissions of global warming pollution from cars and trucks in Pennsylvania by nearly 25% by 2025.

The program, and similar ones in 10 other states, now requires only a stamp of approval from the Bush administration to be fully implemented. But the administration has been sitting on the request – yet again catering to big oil and the auto industry.

The Bush administration should not stand in the way of Pennsylvania’s efforts to put global warming solutions into action.

Sincerely,
Ashley Zeigler

The Bush administration says that there is no hard evidence linking carbon dioxide emissions to global warming so the blank stare from the White House continues...

Even if carbon dioxide has nothing to do with global warming, larger engines make more than smaller engines. More efficient machines burn less fossil fuel and make less carbon dioxide.

Curbing carbon dioxide emissions will force the reduction of fossil fuels which will make us less dependent on oil and force us to think harder about real solutions rather than ignoring the underlying argument by blaming bad science.

Well come on now, lets all shout/cry,

" We use too much oil and we need help with our addiction!"

The blank stare continues...
