A long way from Volcanoes

| | Comments (0)

When I was in high school and dinosaurs roamed the earth, we were obsessed with volcanoes. Science fairs were littered with volcanoes; huge messy displays of energy waste. I don’t know why geothermal explosions were so popular other than humans liked to see things blow up (The Volcano phenomenon also explains Mentos and Coke.)...

I was touring the 47th Annual Dallastown Area High School Science and Engineering Fair today taking in the renewable energy displays. One student tested different windmill designs. It seems that black plastic cutlery is completely inferior to slices of cardboard box.

Kidding aside, seeing dreams of renewable energy is inspiring for a kid who was surrounded by belching volcanoes.
