Using Android copy/paste in non-active fields with Gmail, browsers on Droid X, 1 & 2
You can use copy & paste in non-active text fields in Gmail, the native browser as well as supporting third-party browsers (Dolphin). This feature is available on updated Motorola Droid 1 (updated to 2.2) , Droid 2 and works on the Droid X using the browser, but not Gmail (pending 2.2 update?)
