Linda Smith, an associate professor of biology at Stockton College, uses organic practices to grow 25 types of vegetables on one acre of land near Red Lion.
Smith, 55, said she's been interested in gardening and natural foods since she was about 20 years old, and envisioned starting a vegetable farm. She received a doctorate in evolution and ecology in 1998 and later realized she could apply her education at her family's farm.
