I synced up the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to Microsoft Exchange 2007 without a hitch and notifications work perfectly.

You can sync contacts, calendar and mail.

Interesting to note that the system font size setting changes the size of text in the email headers.

There are different font settings that change the size of text in the opened email. That setting is within the mail app.
