Stacey Farmer was murdered eight years ago, York Area Regional Police Chief Tom Gross said Monday.

And that murder had nothing to do with the murder of Hopethan "Flex" Johnson on the same Windsor Township property a month earlier, Gross said.

Gross held a news conference Monday with Acting York County Coroner Claude Stabley and First Assistant District Attorney David MacVeigh to publicly update the Farmer investigation and ask that anyone with any information come forward.

Gross said that, while there are "several people we are suspicious about," there are no suspects in Farmer's murder at this time.

Anyone with information about Stacey Farmer's death is asked to call Detective Kathleen Burke at 741-1259.

Two weeks with a Droid 2

flashondroid3.jpgMy conclusion after two weeks with the the Droid 2 is that I love Adobe Flash on a phone with the hardware and operating system to support it.

I hope it comes to the big screen on my Droid X soon with it's expected late summer upgrade to Android 2.2.

Yeah I know, Flash is dying and all that but the reality is that without it websites are left with alot of holes and not every outlet has a custom app outside of YouTube's dual streams for web and mobile.

Last week I wanted to check in on a C-SPAN raw feed while working under my truck.

There is something magical just to stream a Flash feed over a 3G connection on a handheld mobile device without translating it or apping it. I just opened the CSPAN website and I had mini live TV in my hand.

Motorola's Droid 2 interface reminds me alot of the Droid X.

  • Simplification of the power management tools over the Droid X.
  • Secondary email (Yahoo, pop, etc.) on both these phones is better than native Google
  • Same number of desktops and function, same Moto widgets
  • Same camera interface

The major difference between these phones lies in the size, physical keyboard and video capturing.ability.

If you have an issue with the size of the Droid X and don't mind loosing the larger video/still file sizes and multi-mic system and like a physical keyboard, the 2 may be your Android device.

Blake Bonacquisti is excited to ride a school bus with his little brother Evan.

Blake, 12, used to travel 50 minutes from his York Township home to West York for his Lincoln Intermediate Unit neurological impairment class.

But that changes Monday, because Blake will attend the new Dallastown Area Intermediate School, which has an academic program that meets his needs.

"It's tough when you go to a different school district than where you live," said the boys' dad, Darren Bonacquisti. "Now, he'll be back with his neighborhood kids."

On Sunday during an open house, the family toured the new building where Blake will be in sixth grade and Evan, 9, will be a fourth-grader.

Principal Paula R. March gives a message of hope.

The Motorola Droid X has the largest possible video file size, with the Droid 2 and Droid 1 sharing the same maximum frame size.

Droid X - 1280 x 720
Droid 2 - 720 x 480
Droid 1 - 720 x 480

As with most of the interface in the Droid 2, this Motorola phone shares much of the evolved Droid X functionality and hardware horsepower without the X's superior microphone system.

At this time, the stock Droid 2 runs the latest Android 2.2 operating system, while the Droid X is running Android 2.1. Verizon says an upgrade to Android 2.2 for the Droid X is coming late Summer 2010.

droid2video.jpgThe Droid 2 shares the video editing, frame grab and the same gallery structure as Droid X. The phone is as capable as the Droid 1 for video plus an evolved interface and increased editing speed.

However after using the Droid X with it's three microphone system and the ability to drop sound levels in concerts, it's hard to go back to a phone with a single mic on the opposite side of the subject.

Is Photojournalism Dead? We Almost Hate To Ask npr.org/blogs

Is photojournalism dead? Photojournalists are certainly alive, but can they be expected to survive an economy of fast, cell phone news? In conclusion, there is no conclusion. But we're interested in your thoughts. Leave comments!

I find it interesting that a profession dedicated to the evolution of life has such a difficult time redefining itself. I love adapting my cell phone to telling stories in real-time.

It is possible to tell a story in a 30 second video and only take 45 minutes or less to post it.

Personally, it is a far greater personal satisfaction to make or break the moment with one raw tool, than participate in a long, drawn out process filled with legacy costs of people and time.

The money model is changing, not the story telling.

The Most Rev. Joseph P. McFadden was installed this afternoon as the 10th bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg, a 15-county area that includes York and Adams counties.

The media was told that still cameras were ok for this event, but video was not allowed inside. It's amazing what you can do with a device that doesn't look like a video camera.

Droid X to the rescue.

The Motorola smartphone also took it's first good drop. My Body Glove case popped open while tangled in camera straps, a raincoat and lens belt.

Smith, 55, said she's been interested in gardening and natural foods since she was about 20 years old, and envisioned starting a vegetable farm. She received a doctorate in evolution and ecology in 1998 and later realized she could apply her education at her family's farm.

Truck driver Walter Hammond describes his wild ride after his 80,000 lb load collided, then flipped after rolling over the hood of a pickup truck.

By mistake after testing last night, I had my Droid X on video message mode, which took down the HD video to a highly compressed 340 x 240 pixils - 1:44 length = 4.17 MB

Normally, message mode can be used to send video via text messaging.

Note to self: A previously activated video mode on the Droid X sticks even after the video interface is opened and closed.
