Harley-Davidson has begun saying where their alternative locations to York are, as it assesses whether it can get its York County operations more cost-effective or whether it will pull up stakes and leave.
Shelbyville, Ky., and Murfreesboro, Tenn., are the first two on the list. Four in total are getting toured by Harley this week.
The company is expected to either pick to stay in York – the preferred option, the company says – or move to one of these places being toured this week.
We’re interested up here, of course, but those communities are also buzzing a bit. Check out the stories from The Sentinel-News, covering Shelbyville, and the The Daily News Journal, covering Murfreesboro.

Every morning it’s another article about Harley.
I lost my job last month.
It was shipped overseas to India.
Where was my parade and rally?
Did Gov. Rendell swoop in offering a bailout?
Where was Sen. Casey when I got my notice?
There’s been so much talk of socialism in the news lately concerning President Obama’s health care plan. Isn’t state and local intervention into the Harley crisis a form of socialism?
The statge and local governments want to use my tax dollars to support a private business.
Yes, the loss of Harley will be a big blow to the York area — but that’s capitalism!! If you can’t make a profit, then you close up shop. That’s what happened with my job.
