Harley's trikes: Keeping core customers in the saddle

| | Comments (0)
An interesting story out of Los Angeles today from the Associated Press that expands on the appeal of so-called trikes, the three-wheeled Harley-Davidson models that the company recently decided to build in its Springettsbury Township, York County, operations.

An owner of a Harley dealership in the central Pennsylvania region said earlier this month their appeal comes from riders who want a little extra confidence, and this story puts some faces and specifics to that: a man who had a leg amputated due to cancer and now keeps riding, to name one.

The story also points out an important statistic for the importance of these bikes to Harley and the industry: About 43 percent of all motorcycle owners (not just Harley owners) were born during the Baby Boom years.
