Keys to success
I am writing in reference to the recent letter concerning public schools being able to compete with the likes of York Catholic. Where were the critics when the York Catholic girls were 0-23?
Dedication, practice and determination are the keys to success, not where the students come from. A majority of the student atheletes at York Catholic have had ties to their school through parents and relatives, and have kept the tradition alive.

My son went to a public school when he could have gone to a Catholic school and was a very successful athelete. I am wondering what would have been said if we all chose to keep the tradition alive instead of feeding the public schools sytems?
I say it again, instill responsibilty, dedication, and determination into student atheletes along with practice and those programs will someday be rewarded! Keyword: consistency!

Obviously you have not paid attention to the high percentage of private schools represented at the state basketball finals. I agree that some of the success does come from having a strong program that begins when the kids are very young, and yes, these YC girls did do something special; however, we should not turn a blind eye to blatant recruiting when we see it (Prep Charter).
