More kudos for Farmers Market

| | Comments (0)

I echo Lynne Marie Sechrist's comments of 5/31 on the operation of the Farmer's Market House in York. This venerable compliation of stand holders is like family, and you feel as one when you stop, shop, visit with the stand holders. It gives me pride to purchase items grown or produced in our very own York with an aire of the time-tried House, at this location after the American Civil War was ended.

I am pleased to shop there for all my needs aside from staple items - and I can see where such could be integrated into the fabric of this great place. And, possibly a working relationship could be fostered with the York Rescue Mission, to forge a partnership of work and exchange of goods not sold at Market may be an idea to the Mission's longstanding and noteworthy neighborhood presence.

Baltimore boasts of it's famed Lexington Market, and rightly so. But Yorkers have a convenient and friendly place to go - adjacent off-street parking and a plethura of items to grace your table. The Market Board should look within it's walls to see the "positives" this wonderful institution holds, as it can embrace York's ever-changing ethnic and social make-up. Kudos to those who continue to "hold Market" at Farmer's House - where you see a family of stand holders, and you too are invited to be a part of the larger family of Farmer's Market.
