Helmets for all drivers
To the "Click it or ticket . . ." editorial writer, I would like to see the helmet law remain by choice. My choice happens to be to wear the best helmet I can afford.
If the law changes to forcing the helmets to be worn, I would like it to include all motorized vehicles including the Yugo you drive. I want to wear a helmet in my truck but, it's illegal because it restricts vision and hearing. This would also stop the problem of using cellphones while driving.

Steve, you may have come up with the single best idea to improve highway safety in the last 10 years. Wearing a helmet would make it very hard to use a cell phone indeed! Everyone it seems, is yacking away on the cell while driving. No one is paying attention. Strap a big old helmet on her!!
If an 18+ year old motorcycle rider is too shortsighted to wear a helmet, I don't care. Feel free to indulge your immaturity. However, if you are involved in an accident and sustain a head injury, your insurance should not pay or, at least, at a lesser level of coverage than other body parts. If you want the coverage, then you pay an additional premium for that privilege. The crux of this proposal is that you get what you want, but the rest of Pennsylvania's motorcyclists don't have to foot the bill for your unwillingness to recognize reality. I would apply the same insurance regulation to wearing car seatbelts for those 18 and older.
