Owners must pay for razing

This has to be one of the most irresponsible things I have seen this city do yet. From the Happy Meal tax to the baseball stadium this administration and the previous have squandered money and chased pipe dreams. Now you have a legitimate business and several homeowners who they are taking to task over something they have no control over.

What reason does Mike's Nut Shop have to call the city its home anymore, why should he relocate within these boundaries if this is the treatment they city affords him. Aren't they trying to attract jobs and business's downtown? Princess Street is hardly the gem that the architecture suggests it once was. Here you have residents and businesses trying to make it better and they just turn their backs on them.

How much of the millions spent on the Baseball Stadium was wasted in the process. How much money has the School District squandered over the last 10 years? How much money has been spent running the Diminutive Demagogue around glad-handing for money?

Here you take home and business owners, the cornerstone of any community, and tell them to get on their feet and pay the bill. Terrible, even for a small city like York that kind of bill is a drop in the bucket. For the home and business owners it is a major slap.

Maybe the good Mayor can show up at the Hardware Bar and climb up into the Barber chair and have the public buy him shots and spankings to help fund the demolition bill. Maybe he can walk along with the Revolution fans from the farthest parking area and collect Walk-a-thon style. Maybe he can charge an extra buck a duck for the regatta and put that towards the bill?

Our distinguished Mayor and his cabinet have been so successful pumping life back into this city, lets see him climb up on his oversized soap-box and pull this one out of his hat.

Maybe I am all wet on this; maybe this was all part of the master plan. Maybe this is the solution to the parking problem for the Stadium. I can see the slogan now.

"Park at the new Princess Street lot, if you make it to the game, you will really appreciate how safe it is in the stadium!"
