Child Support Provisions, Deficit Reduction Act
Well leave it to the federal government to create another "fee" to be paid. I wonder if when the federal government came up with the requirement that an annual $25 fee has to be paid to help reduce the federal deficit, they realized that they would be taking money from our nation's children.
I guess the government feels its okay to reduce the income of the people that pay and receive child support since that money goes towards our children. So why not take the money from them since they are our future and the federal deficit will be theirs to deal with way into their future.

Now the debate is, who is going to pay the fee? The custodial parent or the noncustodial parent. Rep. Eugene DePasquale, D-York City, feels the person paying the support should be responsible because then this will ramp up efforts to collect from deadbeat parents. Rep. Depasquale, Do you really think that if someone is behind in child support that a $25 fee is going to make them pay up? And if the system can't collect thousands of dollars from a parent now as it is, what is a mear $25 going to do to motivate them?
Like the saying goes, "You can't squeeze blood from a turnip." And then there are the parents that share joint 50/50 physical custody and one parent still has to pay the other parent to make the incomes equal in both househould so the children do not have to experience a change in lifestyle. Who pays then? Since parents will have to pay the fee either way because there is no option. Why not split the cost? Since it does take two people to parent a child to begin with. My suggestion would be if you have a child with someone more then likely you were able to tolerate that person at one point to have a child with them. If you are already having the money deducted from your check, why not just write the check yourself to that person and work it out yourself. Eventually, the fee will be inflated over time anyway.

The $25 fee is beside the point. Deadbeat parents are the main cause of children who live in poverty, and anything that can help collect arrearages is OK by me. Deadbeats spend money on all kinds of unnecessary things while their kids suffer. They should be aggressively pursued until they pay in full, and stop their whining unless they do.
