School and contraceptives
A school in Maine has started to pass out contraceptives in an effort to slow down teen pregnancy and STD's. Though their intentions may seem good it is alarming that the students can receive "treatment" from the school's health center without the parents being informed of the type of treatment.

Some parents think this is good, since children don't always feel comfortable talking to with them about these things. Being a parent, I must say that these are the exact things I think I should know about my children. These days we hand everything over to the "expert." When we do this we lose our own liberty. My children are too precious to me to just hand them over to the "experts" or the government.
Schools need to get back to teaching kids the "3 Rs" and leave the rest to families. Some use the justification that kids are going to "do it anyway" so we should make sure they can do it as safely as possible. Well I know that some kids are going to smoke anyway, so why not just hand out the best filtered cigarettes made so they can smoke as safe as possible? I'm sure that parents and school officials would not go for that. Why can't they see the connection? The consequences of sexual activity can be more immediate and dangerous than smoking a cigarette. Yet while child smoking is taboo (and rightfully so), child sexual activity is promoted.

I cannot believe that this school is doing this! Especially a middle school! You are right, this is up to parents not a school. Sex is for responsible, MARRIED ADULTS! Not 13 year old kids! The reason they are doing it is becuase of the tv! Look at all the shows now with sex as the theme. And you know a lot of parents do not care what there child watches! Instead of handing out contraceptives, teach absentence!
