Must be a reason
Rutter's and this bst milk thing...I like to think I'm a savy shopper and if I pay more, there must be a reason, like value, etc. So I did a novel thing and researched this a little bit. We've been drinking milk this way for 10 years, it's been around that long. So what's new, I see marketing ploy to get 20 cents more per gallon. I come to find out that more milk from less cows is a good thing. It can reduce enviromental pressures, less acres to feed animals, more corn for ethanol, conserving energy. The world is going green, I'm thinking biotech in food is part of it. But you know what, I'm glad we are so blessed to have a choice everyday, in what we eat and so many other things. Millions around the world are starving and we want what we perceive to be good for us. Sleep tight!

Problem is, growth hormones may be good for producing food, but not enough study has ben done towrds the long term affects they have on our children (do you see that kids are grwoing up faster than 30 years ago?? I do.) Also, what about the affects of these hormones that are being pased into our rivers and streams. Take a look at the problems in the Potomac - male fish are developing eggs?!?!? Where do you think this is coming from? I think we need to have someone take a looong look into these problems.
Pete
Pete, come on now, think thru this. Ain't no hormones in the milk. Kids today benefit from better nutrition as generations before did, incremental change...go to 3rd world countries -they could really benefit from BIOTECH in food. We have safe, plentiful, affordable food, with choice for those who chose to percieve and not understand fact and fiction. Male fish laying eggs cause hormones in MILK ? WOW!
Pete, You're really stretching here. Let me give you something else to ponder. How long have we been adding Vitamin D3 to milk for Health Benefits, and to aid in Calcium absorption? Well, this vitamin is a hormone, similar in structure to testosterone, cortisol, and cholesterol. Should we ban it's use also?
I am just amazed that people are living longer. We should be dropping like flies. I understand your concern, but the FDA looked for years for a reason not to legalize rBst. I'll let them know about the fish eggs, and they'll get right on that. Regards, Tom
Studies have proven that milk from cows who receive rBST has _no_ trace of that substance, and their milk is chemically indistinguishable from milk produced by cows who receive no hormones. Thus there is _no_ scientific basis for informing unsophisticated consumers of a "difference" that really doen't exist. It's all marketing bull.
