Political incorrectness

Michelle Malkin (YDR 2/23/08) says she, like Michelle Obama, is a “woman of color.” But she does not say what color. From her picture, she appears to be Asian. Japanese? Vietnamese? Does really it matter?

Ms. Malkin is critical of (indeed, hurls hot coals at) a statement in a speech by Michelle Obama in which she blurted “For the first time in my adult lifetime I am really proud of my country…” When I first read that myself, I thought, “Oh, oh, someone should have a talk with that young lady.” Her phraseology was impolitic. And we don’t like politically incorrect, do we? She should stick to telling us how much she admires her husband and should otherwise curb her exaltation of spirit over Barack’s amazing political success.

Even though that success is an historic attitudinal phenomenon for the good old U.S. of A.
