Holiday theft

| | Comments (0)

Happy Easter!!! First off I would like to say that this is my first letter to the editor. Yesterday on Easter Sunday was a different story so here I am. My wife walked out the front door of our home in York city yesterday and found the front window of our vehicle smashed and our GPS stolen. We can live with the 225 dollars to replace the window and the 550 dollars to replace the Garmin, what we can't live with is the violation of our privacy.

The worst part is that when I dialed 911 to report this they informed me that no officer would be coming out to inspect the damage or take a statement. They hooked me up with someone at the desk and she took the information from me and said an officer would call me SOMETIME, Well sometime still hasn't arrived as of the writing of this letter [blogger note: 7 a.m. March 24].

I have lived in city for about 4 years now and haven't had any trouble with theft until now. The problem I have is that when I first moved in my neighbor and myself had a parking dispute and an officer was there in 10 minutes. GO FIGURE!!

I had a car sitting on MY property that had expired tags and inspection I was saving for my sons 16th birthday and I got an orange tag and told I had to fix it now or have it towed. Needless to say I had to have it towed because we were leaving on vacation in 3 days and I had no way of getting the car inspected and licensed in that amount of time. My son lost his car and I lost respect.

Houses and buildings are run down and vacant all over the city and they are more concerned about my car than the house down the street falling to pieces. ROCK ON YORK ...KEEP WORKING ON WHAT MATTERS!
